I don't want to go home for holiday break. I'd much rather stay at Hogwarts. It's not very fun at home, and mother makes me uncomfortable sometimes.

She says some really mean things, especially to my friends during my birthday. And to me, as well. It doesn't seem like the sort of thing a mother should do.

But she does love me. She's always telling me that. It makes me feel like an awful daughter that I don't want to go home to her, but at the same time, I'm starting to wonder if the trouble isn't with me.

I know how you feel. I hate staying at my house over the holiday, my parents never let me out of the house for any reason. They're just so paranoid that something's going to happen to me or I'll get sick, it's annoying!

Maybe you've got the right idea there, maybe our parents are just crazy.

Oh, yes, it's just like that! I have to stay inside for my safety and my hair!

But what if she can tell? My parents can always tell when I'm not happy and they try to cheer me up. What about your mother?

She does sometimes. She'll make me my favorite soup when I'm sad.

But not when I'm sad because of her. Then she doesn't notice.

I think she does and she wants it to stay that way. You get so guilty about how she's gonna feel about something a lot, I think that's how she wants you to feel. She's bullying you!

Well, you can't just sit around not knowing. She's not going to make it clear to you that she's being a bully, you've gotta start taking some independent action and coming out from under her watch. That's what I did with my parents and I don't regret it one bit.

It... It can heal injuries. And Mother makes a potion from it to make her look younger.

...Not everyone that is a mother is nice. I know I complain about my parents, but some people hit their kids or starve them. And you said she says some really mean things sometimes, right?

That's true. I wasn't thinking of it like that, because even though she's really mean sometimes she's never hurt me physically...

I end up reading a lot of books at home...my favorite ones have knights saving princesses from evil witches, so I like to think it'd be something like that.
