I don't want to go home for holiday break. I'd much rather stay at Hogwarts. It's not very fun at home, and mother makes me uncomfortable sometimes.

She says some really mean things, especially to my friends during my birthday. And to me, as well. It doesn't seem like the sort of thing a mother should do.

But she does love me. She's always telling me that. It makes me feel like an awful daughter that I don't want to go home to her, but at the same time, I'm starting to wonder if the trouble isn't with me.

[Applejack flops down next to her roommate, careful with the plate of cookies before sitting it down in front of them. The farm girl brings a leg up, resting an arm on it as she listens.]

Ah never met 'er personally, so Ah cain't tell ya what Ah think y'all should do, Punzie, but Ah think ya should be able t' follow yer heart an' do what y'all think is right. Heck Ah'd be willin' t' write t' Granny an' ask if y'all can spend the holidays down on the farm if ya really don't wanna go back home.

That sounds like wonderful advice, Applejack. I'll think about it. And... I wish I could spend the holidays with you, and see your farm, but... My mother would never let me.

Then maybe it's time y'all took th' reins fer a change. Worked somethin' out. From what y'all have said, it's like she don't wanna see eye to eye wit' ya.

[She reaches forward to pick a cookie off the plate, breaking it in half and handing the other half to Rapunzel.]

There's gotta be give an' take in any relationship, an' it sounds t'me like she ain't done a lotta givin'.

I just... I don't know. I mean... What you're saying makes sense, but she takes such good care of me. She keeps me safe.
